Harvest Moon 1997 Meeting April 1, 1997 Tiny Tim's Pizza, Fayetteville Date: October 25 & 26 or November 1 & 2 (We need to avoid conflicting with any UPA sanctioned regional or national event. We also want to avoid coinciding with a Razorback Football game, if at all possible.) Fields: A committee was formed to locate a suitable place to host the tournament. Members: Kirby, Pablo, Liz O. (location must be able to fit 10 full size Ultimate fields.) Possibilities include, but are not limited to: -Polo fields -Holcomb Elementary -Lake Fayetteville (possibly permanent spot for practice) -Marinoni Farm -Tontitown Fairgrounds -Prairie Grove Battlefield -Airstrip beyond the Supercenter (Wal-Mart) -Tyson land -McBride property -Rugby team land -Chamber of Commerce (might be able to direct us to land) $1,000.00 is maximum available this year for leasing space. Owning or leasing a permanent spot for the club to own will be investigated at the same time. Practice: Park involvement committee was formed to procure a more permanent place to hold practice through the use of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation facilities. Members: Mark M., Joy E., Dr. Doug, & Rando Our organization needs to develop a fraternal relationship with the Parks Department and other local recreational organizations. The men will have practice on Tuesday or Thursday of each week, depending on weather and attendance conditions. Coed practice will be on Sundays. The first coed Adopt-A-Park activity will be on Sunday, April 27th, at Walker Park in Fayetteville, commencing directly after practice. Name: There will be a vote on Sunday, April 27th, by all interested Ultimate players at that practice. We need a name for out coed organization to represent the need of our local ultimate players and teams. Submissions are encouraged to include the surrounding area and not just Fayetteville. Some suggestions so far: -Fayetteville Disc Association -Greater Ozarks Horizontal Organization -Fayetteville Ultimate Club -Northwest Arkansas Ultimate Club Executive Committee: A seven-member committee which would govern our club, so that we could more effectively meet the needs of Ultimate players in our region. This will be discussed further after the April 27th clean up. A set of bylaws will be established, along with our goals, to guide the workings of our organization. Web Page: Cost is $140.00. Photos need to be submitted, along with suggestions. Video: The Community Access Channel will be airing Ultimate videos at 10:20 pm on Sundays. -Joy E., Jeff F., and Wayne R., are putting together more tapes for airing on the local channels. -This is a great recruiting tool and can also be used to teach better Ultimate to all of us. -Money is required to fuel this effort. We need to find a way to facilitate this. -Maybe we could encourage new players by making flyers: by making one night available to newcomers to the game (amateur night).
